How to be Consistently Productive (As a SMM)
Knowing how to be consistently productive is a game-changer, especially if you’re in the business of social media. You’re constantly attempting to multitask, trying to stay on top of whats happening in real time, and probably trying to eat lunch at your desk while you create some new content.
With the hours you give yourself in the working day, you want to be utilising it as best you can to get as much done as you can, in an organised way.
Structure plays a huge part in any job role, but when it comes to planing out content for everyday of the week, planning ahead is something you’re just going to have to do.
Create your structure:
First things first, you want to set out a really good structure to your day. You do it for all your social plans, so do it for yourself too. Write out your to-do list and everything you need to get done that day, in priority order. Give yourself a routine before you even start work that makes you feel ready for the day but also allows you time to relax.

Time yourself:
Allocate a set amount of time for each piece of work, this may be an hour to batch create content, 2 hours to plan a month’s worth of post ideas, 20 minutes to engage, 30 mins to create an email. Stick to these slots and you’ll find yourself much more productive and less willing to get distracted within that time-frame before you move on to the next.
Batch create content:
Having scheduled out weeks upon weeks of content makes a huge difference to your productivity. Not only does it save you time but it ensures you can post consistently, create ideas that seamlessly flow across your channels and allows you to focus on other areas.
Be effective with your communication:
If you speak with to a team, client or agency on a regular basis, or even if not, you want to make this time as efficient as possible. Bullet point all key information that needs to be communicated. Also think about what’s being discussed, can that 20 minute call turn into a 5 minute email? Can a powerpoint presentation that takes an hour be made up into a one-sheet doc?
Watch your scrolling:
You’ll know this by the type of content you create and post, but social media is an addictive and very fast-paced place to be constantly working on, so its very easy to turn a 5 minute scroll into an hour long, and doing this again and again isn’t going to help with your productivity unless every piece of content is providing you with good research.
